ICYMI: Robert Pattinson for Dior Icons, Alessandro Michele’s debut Valentino campaign and Martine Rose x Clarks

Time flies, so to keep you in the loop, we’ve rounded up all the important snippets of fashion news from the past seven days into one neat feature. This week includes Kiko Kostadinov x Asics Novalis, Burberry’s star-studded outerwear campaign and Kim Jones’ departure from Fendi. 

Alessandro Michele’s debut Valentino campaign
Following Alessandro Michele’s decadent debut Valentino show in Paris a couple of weeks ago, the designer has dropped the accompanying campaign and it’s just as good as we expected it to be. Shot in Rome’s Mignanelli Palace – Maison Valentino’s historic headquarters – models don Michele’s opulent collection as they recline on chaise longues accompanied by pearl-wearing pugs. Photographed by Glen Luchford, the campaign is aptly entitled Avant Les Débuts which translates to Before the Beginnings, marking the beginning of Michele’s tenure at the house.

Kim Jones has left Fendi
Kim Jones is stepping down from his position as Artistic Director of Womenswear at Fendi, a position he has held since 2020 but will remain as artistic director of Dior Men, a post he’s held since 2018. The British designer succeeded the late Karl Lagerfeld in designing haute couture and ready-to-wear for the Italian house and over the past four years has taken the heritage brand’s design language into new territory.

Robert Pattinson stars in Dior’s latest campaign
Kim Jones’ latest Dior Icons capsule is a continuation of the brand’s ever-evolving vision of the modern man, contributing to an everyday wardrobe built from timeless silhouettes, understated hues and modern tailoring. The accompanied shot by Alasdair McLellan features long-time friend of the house Robert Pattinson, who made his first appearance in a Dior campaign in 2013, marking a decade-long partnership.

Burberry’s new outerwear campaign
As a pioneer of British outerwear, Burberry has spent over 165 years perfecting its craft, from protecting explorers in extreme climates to manufacturing the instantly recognisable silhouette of a Burberry trench. To honour its evolving dedication to outerwear, the brand’s latest campaign is an ode to just that, spotlighting this season’s jackets and coats on a host of Britain’s most famous faces.

Martine Rose x Clarks
The second instalment of Martine Rose’s sell-out Clarks collaboration has just dropped and it’s just as good as the first time around. Titled Coming Up Roses, the collection focuses on the comfort at the core of Clarks’ shoemaking, reimagining a series of classic silhouettes with inflated padding and textured leather across kitten heels, brogues, loafers and clogs. Sticking true to the campaign’s tagline of ‘shoes you want to keep on’, the accompanying images see Martine’s design take to the treetops as Sharna Osborn captures people scaling hundred-year-old pine trees in pastel pink heels, they’re just that comfy!

Kiko Kostadinov x Asics Novalis
Since first partnering with Asics for Kiko Kostadinov’s SS18 menswear show, the pair have continued to drop some of the most hotly anticipated sneaker collabs over the past few years and they’re showing no sign of stopping. The second instalment of Asics Novalis by Asics and Kiko Kostadinov is here, debuting a new iteration of apparel and footwear. Accompanied by a campaign lensed by Frank Lebon, the photographer captures a series of portraits shot in long exposure, emulating the practice of meditation. 

The collection will be available online from October 15th.

Soeur’s debut menswear collection
Parisian brand Soeur is well known for its incredibly chic womenswear but for the first time in the house’s history, they are delving into the world of menswear with a collection titled Frère. Having always worked with a design language for their womenswear which orbits masculine tropes of classic tailoring and streamlined silhouettes, the introduction of a menswear line has allowed the French house to fine-tune its Parisian chic aesthetic in the form of structured outerwear, sumptuous knits and relaxed shirting.

Birkenstock’s Highwood collection
Following 250 years of expert craftsmanship, for FW24 Birkenstock has dropped its Highwood collection, focusing on traditional shoemaking and innovative design. Prioritising comfort this season, the collection features two streamlined silhouettes complete with the brand’s iconic Deep Blue Footbed. To coincide with the launch, an immersive studio takeover places nature at its core, the space is complete with an installation by spatial designer David Curtis-Ring and a calming soundscape designed by artist Justin Wiggan.
