This week includes the announcement of BFC’s Designer Fashion Fund winner, a Sunspel x Mr Porter collab and the introduction of Loewe’s outdoor scents. 

Valentino will show a standalone menswear SS24 show
The Italian house will break from its co-ed set-up of the last three years with a special menswear show titled ‘The Narratives’. The show will take place at Milan’s Università degli Studi di Milano Statale on 16th June – a time when the University is “alive and swarms with students.”

“For the Maison, Milan holds both the key to history and the roadmap to innovation,” read a statement. “Buzzing with underground energy and of-the-moment art and cultural movements, it is in this city that Creative Director Pierpaolo Piccioli will resignify the codes of menswear, but not without looking to the past.”

The Stockholm-based bespoke tailoring brand is a go-to for contemporary craft and luxurious suiting. Timberland and Samuel Ross launch their Future73 capsule
As part of Timberland’s 50th anniversary, the brand welcomes six global designers to reimagine its iconic footwear, and now it’s the turn of A-Cold-Wall* founder Samuel Ross. Bringing his unique codes of function and material innovation to the table, Ross reimagines Timberland’s classic Premium 6-inch boot with minimal lines and a zip closure, while an archival deep-dive informs apparel; reworking never-before-seen pieces through hand-dyeing techniques and contemporary craft. The line-up includes cargo shorts, insulated vests, crewneck sweatshirts and a hunting parka – ideal for urban adventure.

16Arlington wins BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund
Established in 2008 to support designers in “growth and contribution to the British fashion ecosystem,” BFC’s fashion fund recognises the brilliance of the next generation of talent. Marco Capaldo and the late Federica Cavenati’s 16Arlington is the recipient of this year’s prize, having become known for its bold approach to womenswear since arriving on the scene in 2018 the award has confirmed what we all already knew, 16Arlington is only going to keep getting better.

Timothée Chalamet for Chanel
Between playing Wonka in Paul King’s upcoming origin story, Bob Dylan in James Mangold’s biopic on the US musician, and the release of Dune’s second instalment, Chalamet is also the new face of Bleu De Chanel. Now that’s a CV.

Loewe launch outdoor candles
Not only can you you keep your kitchen infused with Loewe scents, you can now make sure your garden is smelling fresh too. The Spanish house is launching a geranium scented outdoor candle, designed to create an effective diffusion of scent in the open air and housed in a glazed terracotta vase with Loewe’s signature stamp on the base.

Ray-Ban Reverse
Turning eyewear on its axis, Ray-Ban are introducing a completely reversed lens with the help of advanced engineering technologies. The lens shifts from traditional convex to concave without sacrificing on optical precision due to the astigmatic, prismatic and resolving powers. Worn by Italian supermodel Vittoria Ceretti in the campaign, four unisex sunglass styles featuring classic aviator and wayfarer frames are fitted are released with the high-tech lenses.
