“Last year I went to Art Basel in Miami” says Kris Van Assche, Dior Homme’s creative director. “It was such a huge contradiction between the art scene and the general scene in Miami – you couldn’t have a bigger one.

The contrast of having formal exhibition openings on the beach, of having to wear a tuxedo on the beach. But there was also such a sense of fun to all of this in Miami. It inspired my approach to the collection.”

That’s the story behind Dior Homme’s spring collection you see here, covered in brush-stroke print and photographed by Karim Sadli in collaboration with M/M Paris. It’s a fully-formed precursor to the Pet Shop Boys-soundtracked Paninero namechecking catwalk collection for summer.

Producing four distinct collections a year, the words pre-collection are no more. Now titled spring and autumn, with the catwalk collections known as summer and winter, the move gives each outing respect as its own entity – after all, they will all end up sitting together in our wardrobes over time.
