The glitter swarming Christopher Shannon’s models’ hair took two, three, four goes to wash out, to the inconvenience of those using the same boys after. Don’t say he didn’t leave his mark. The Strafe soundtrack Set It Off helped that wave of euphoria along nicely.

Bigger than a great collection, however, it was Shannon’s dunked-in-sparkle that set a blueprint for SS14 grooming.

Born out of his dawn-of-the-superclub inspiration (think Liverpool and Manchester; Garlands and Paradise) as well as the era’s experimental post-rave, pre-high street clubwear, his model’s hairstyles went with PVC, vinyl and translucent rubber looks, as well as swirly club flyer knits.

Even if the microscopic boulders caked in their hair were held in place with product, you could imagine sweat from dancing all night long doing the job too. Tread carefully: a trail of your exploits will follow you.

In Paris, Walter Van Beirendonck brushed sparkle through his model’s hair as part of a collection inspired by home. His cast wore tailoring depicting rooms, so think of those neatly combed golden tops as lightbulbs – when they weren’t in showstopping raffia hats by Stephen Jones, that is.

It was Miharayasuhiro who gave us artful take on the light-refracting, with gold leaf broken by tousled hair. It crowned his models in a collection that was inspired by the rise-again optimism of the Phoenix.

The first (and last) word on the matter goes to Shannon, who got everyone talking. Expect hundreds of narked town stationers coping with glitter shortage for SS14, it’ll be everywhere from graduate collections to ‘tribute’ magazine editorials. Beware primary schools: your children’s macaroni-laden collages will be pretty sparse until winter.
