The red carpet was out for Junya Watanabe MAN SS25. A collection that played with ideas of suiting, the first half of the show consisted of numerous cuts of suits, all rendered in denim. A denim suit traditionally doesn’t scream high fashion, but in the hands of Junya Watanabe these looks had reconstructed style. Many of them were patchwork, swatches of denim overlapping, the occasional flash of plaid giving them a distinctly punk quality. Elsewhere, denim jackets were split open to create cape-like pieces, or a denim jacket was sewn onto a larger coat to create a multilayered look. Band t-shirts featuring Black Sabbath and AC/DC popped up as the collection become more casual in the middle, before ending where it began with suits, shirts and bow-ties but now rendered fully in white.
