Linklater’s ode to a Broadway legend
Richard Linklater’s new film is a Broadway affair. Blue Moon follows Lorenz Hart (played by Ethan Hawke), the famed American songwriter, who was once part of a hugely successful creative partnership with Richard Rodgers. However, their relationship is now over and Rodgers has found a new partner in Oscar Hammerstein. The film takes place on the opening night of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s latest project, Oklahoma!, as Hart leaves the musical to prop himself up at a nearby bar and commiserate his dead career. With a supporting cast consisting of Margaret Qualley, Bobby Cannavale, and Andrew Scott, Blue Moon sees Linklater return to the script-heavy style of the Before films with Hawke in another brilliant central performance.

A failed Zodiac Killer documentary
Charlie Shackleton is perhaps best known for making Paint Drying, a ten-hour-long film of paint drying made in protest of the British Board of Film Classification’s requirement that filmmakers pay to have their work classified before release. He now returns with a far more watchable project: a film about his failed attempt to create a documentary on the Zodiac Killer. The film cleverly lampoons the booming true-crime genre, exposing its clichés and raising questions about its ethical boundaries.
Zodiac Killer Project is showing in select cinemas now

Tate Britain’s winter exhibition celebrates the legendary American photographer Lee Miller. Born in 1907, Miller began her career as a model (photographed by the likes of Cecil Beaton) before moving behind the camera. She moved to Paris, joined the Surrealists, and became an assistant and muse to Man Ray – as you do. The exhibition spans Lee’s multifaceted career, from her early surrealist imagery to her iconic war photography and influential fashion work, offering a comprehensive look at her oeuvre. Featuring around 230 vintage and contemporary prints, it is the largest retrospective of Miller’s work ever staged.
Lee Miller runs at the Tate Britain until 15 February, tickets are available here.

Located on Bethnal Green Road, the founders of Clara’s Deli have overhauled a spot that had been derelict for a decade into a new East London hotspot in just a matter of months. Opening its doors a few weeks ago, Clara’s operates as a cafe and deli during the day, selling charcuterie, cheeses and butchery cuts alongside produce from HG Walter and Neal’s Yard Dairy. In the evening, the space is transformed with white tablecloths and candles, serving a menu that includes mussel toast, spiced lamb neck, pumpkin, cavalo nero and feta pie, and a croissant bread and butter pudding to finish – a must try!
Clara’s Deli is located at 17 Bethnal Grn Rd, E1 6LA, more info here.
