High fashion is officially heading to outer space. Prada has partnered with commercial space company Axiom Space to design a series of next-generation spacesuits for NASA’s Artemis III mission to the moon in 2025.

The mission will be the first crewed lunar landing since 1972 and importantly, is expected to be the first time a woman will land on the moon. Engineers at the Italian house will work alongside Axiom Space systems throughout each step of the design process, crafting space suits fit to provide astronauts with the capabilities for extensive exploration. Whether they’ll be adorned with the Prada logo or those little evil creatures that ruled the SS24 runway is yet to be revealed, but we’re hoping for a touch of Italian craft.

In a statement, Axiom’s chief Michael Suffredini said; “Prada’s technical expertise with raw materials, manufacturing techniques, and innovative design concepts will bring advanced technologies instrumental in ensuring not only the comfort of astronauts on the lunar surface, but also the much-needed human factors considerations absent from legacy spacesuits.”
