Boy Doll
Our eyes are still reajusting from last week’s Celine Homme FW22 Boy Doll show, which saw Hedi Slimane orchestrate a glam legato shimmering with tinsel-threaded couture, crystals and bejewelled scales. Still chasing those stars, we’re diving deeper into the accessories and jewellery that accented each look with fierce opulence.

Let’s start from the top down. Worn for protection from low-flying glitter rays, each model wore Slimane’s newest Celine eyewear shape, the Moon. Defined by sharp new wave construction, a metal top bar holds frameless mirrored lenses that reflect the winter skies back into the ether. Meanwhile, literally dripping with crystals, models were decorated in Boy Doll statement necklaces. Evoking the glam punk spirit of the collection, these pieces glistened in unison with their accompanying garments like chandelier droplets swaying to the model’s strut.
As with all Slimane collections, footwear informs the mindset. Paired with wide-leg, distressed denim or razor-precise leather tailoring, Celine’s classic western shapes were reimagined within a glam spirit. A Moon Riding Boot was introduced in knee-high leather while signature Santiag and Cruiser boots went big, elevating models like rock gods through the addition of bold platform heels: a rubber wedge and beveled leather heel, respectively. One all-gold look (below) saw a pair of gold Moon Riding Boots arrive, equally befitting the sands of American West or those of far-out sci-fi worlds: like Clint Eastwood on an astral plain.
