You could safely say that Dolce & Gabbana’s Fall/Winter 15 show focused on their Sicilian roots before even seeing it. Plowing the concept to almost theatrically historical depths in recent collections, it seems to hold infinite points of inspiration for the duo.

Whilst there was undeniable drama in this seasons take on the theme ‘DG FAMILY’, the # which preceded these words, hanging high over the runway, alluded to more contemporary thinking. With print featuring an elaborately framed imaginary Dolce dynasty, and textures seemingly borrowed from the interiors of a grand palazzo home, the collection was undeniably ornate. And yet there was an element of simplicity, as beyond a grand display of the brands tailoring capabilities, the most stand out garments were simply cut sweaters and jackets.

A push towards modernity was further presented towards the shows closing, as outfits featured a more tearaway feel. Here the family portrait motif morphed into avatar like caricatures, outerwear adopted a varsity aspect, and rucksacks and razor-licked denims were introduced.
