HERO Sessions: Palm Springsteen – Sister Sister

West Coast four-piece Palm Springsteen recently gathered in an unassuming studio space north of LA’s Dodger Stadium, recording an exclusive performance for our HERO Sessions series. As the sun set and heat mirages went to town, the sound of fuzzed-up guitars and ice cold synths leaked from the cracks in the door as the band tuned up for the most intimate of gigs.

2017 marks a major year for the band, as they prepare to wrap their debut record, provisionally titled, Trouble in Paradise. And here’s the inside scoop: it’s certified “blow pop in space” (in frontman Nick Hinman’s own words) and is fictionally formed around an intergalactic relationship between two star-crossed lovers.

Back down on Earth, capturing the band’s vivacious energy ain’t easy – look no further than all the blurred Instagram images of their gigs. Energy like this can’t be filtered, so we simplified the formula and brought the band together for a blast-away-the-cobwebs run through. Setting the pace, the band gave us a special cover of the late (and great) Alan Vega’s Wipeout Beat, now the band return with a raucous run-through of their recent track, Sister Sister.

Kick back, hit play and let Palm Springsteen do the talkin’.
