Last week, designer Daniel W. Fletcher cut the ribbon on his first London store. That’s no mean feat for any young designer, let alone one who just this year presented his first official collection after graduating from Central Saint Martins. But efficiency comes second nature to Fletcher, who has been known, over the course of the past twelve months, to juggle designing his own collections with consulting for Louis Vuitton, at the same time as doing a lot of “growing up,” as he tells us here.

To celebrate his new store, Fletcher has crafted us a ten-track playlist that channels his FW16 collection, and the motion of learning to adult. “The first half has tracks which mark significant moments in my life and the second is filled with new artists that I am listening to at the moment,” Daniel tells us.

“The FW16 collection was all about British youth and growing up, it was the first one I presented after graduating and I’d had a lot of growing up to do in those six months, but whilst there was a sense of nostalgia and heritage there was also feeling of modernity and moving forward which I’ve tried to reflect in the ten tracks I’ve picked. There’s also a random pig themed song in dedication to PIGGERY (@piggery_ldn) where I will be DJ’ing next week alongside my sister Abbi (Vinyl Bitchie of Noble People).”

Wild Horses by The Rolling Stones
“My dad is a huge fan of the Stones so they were the first band I ever saw when he took me along to Manchester aged eight; there’s never been a mood board of mine that doesn’t include a picture of Mick Jagger.”

Send Me On My Way by Rusted Root
“This song brings back fond memories of both my childhood (Matilda; one of my all time favourite films) and of a dreamy summer travelling in Europe whilst I was at Saint Martins.”

Hounds of Love by Kate Bush
“This was the song used for the Louis Vuitton SS16 show, we listened to it on repeat for a whole week during fittings, I can only just listen to it again now but every time I do I can feel the backstage excitement from that show.”

Money (that’s what I want) by The Flying Lizards
“This was the song I used for my graduate show, it felt appropriate to accompany my Peckham Pony Club collection with a song about money after spending so long reading about greedy redevelopment schemes in the area, and its got a stomping base line to walk to.”

California Dreamin’ by The Mammas and the Papas
“An all time favourite of mine, I’ve just come back from LA and I am still dreaming of the sea and the sand.”

Hell Is My Head by Blaenavon
“This is (in) my head.”

Find The Words by Jamie Isaac
“Jamie Isaac makes for excellent studio listening, and he’s Peckham based.”

Life Itself (Roosevelt Remix) by Glass Animals
“I am really enjoying the second album from Glass Animals (How To Be a Human) and this is a particular highlight.”

Nothing Without You by The Big Moon
“This all girl quartet make great songs but even better videos, the school gym in this one is exactly like those in every school in the UK and would make an excellent back drop for my FW16 collection.”

Piggy Bank by 50 Cent
“This is my pig themed tune in dedication to PIGGERY where I recently made my DJ debut alongside my sister Vinyl Bitchie (@abbifletcher). The pig themed club night is held at The Queen Adelaide and is the brainchild of Louis Vuitton handbag wunderkid Erin Hawkes (@irie_pig ster) and hosted by casting genius Sophie Lynas (@babyfaceladyface).”
