Now onto their third collection presented in conjunction with MAN, you can always expect James Theseus Buck and Luke Brooks of Rottingdean Bazaar to go off-piste. For FW18, a cardboard cutout of Naomi Campbell made it down the catwalk, as did a woman dressed as a human dartboard – as far as these two designers are concerned, when it comes to their design ethos, anything goes.

The audience was given a clue as to what the pair had in store via the show notes-cum-costume hire receipt. Holding “For rent” signs high above their heads which gave details of each costume, models trailed out in an assortment of novelty-inspired looks.

Ranging from silly to downright sensational, one man stepped out in an ornate Chinese cracker costume which enveloped the bottom half of his face. A Christmas tree, a worm and an ear of corn outfit followed, but the get-up that elicited the most raucous response was a blue embellished number simply described as: “David Bowie, ashes to ashes.” Playful and provocative, Rottingdean Bazaar’s whimsical design flair was very much in full swing.
