Hole in one

Chopova Lowena’s Regency girls are golf fanatics

Last season, Chopova Lowena took us to a gothic pep rally, transforming American football references and cheerleading uniforms into a characteristically off-kilter vision. For FW26, Emma Chopova and Laura Lowena-Irons showed their latest collection, Too Ripe and Ready by Half, as a presentation held inside North London’s Crafts Council. Inviting guests to take part in a spot of mini golf, garments were dotted around a pitching green with golf balls fittingly branded with a hot pink Chopova Lowena logo.

As with any Chopova collection, the sentiment of fusing two opposites remained steadfast. What was this season’s duo, we hear you cry! Well, for FW26, the girls are in their Regency Era, pairing the decadence of the early 19th century with the tradition of golfing. The methodology of getting dressed for a round of 18 holes was redefined by clashing argyle prints, kitsch kilts, jackets made from golf bags and patchwork bodice knitwear. The preppiness of golf-course dressing was met in equal measure by the opulence of Regency silhouettes, with buxom-boned skirts, beaded square necklines, blooming black mourning dresses and rose-adorned bloomers.

Deadstock fabrics from previous seasons were interwoven throughout the collection, with iconic pieces such as Fall 2021’s flocked denim or the psychedelic camo print of Fall 2024 given a new lease of life. In a first for the brand, this season introduced ‘Chopova Lowena Feelings’, a selection of intimates and sweat sets which embody the tumultuous emotions of being a Chopova girl, featuring characters and slogans suchas “Warning! Big feelings inside!” Kitting out their girls in outfits to find romance at a society ball and to improve their handicap on the golf course – the Chopova girls really can do it all!
