Stone Island’s Collector Series is taking over London

Stone Island’s cult following is going nowhere; the many independent collectors who have preserved the brand’s archive since its founding in 1982 is unlike that of many of its contemporaries. To celebrate that community, Stone Island is taking over Selfridges Corner Shop until the beginning of November in its first official collaboration with private collectors.

A chance for archivists to share their personal research throughout the six-week installation, one-of-a-kind pieces and limited-edition garments will be shown alongside the new mainline collection and Selfridges exclusives. The residency also coincides with the worldwide launch of Stone Island No Seasons, reinstating an original project by Massimo Osti that was first introduced in 1989, focusing on a single outerwear silhouette refashioned in six iconic fabrications.

Alongside the Selfridges takeover, an extensive cultural programme fostering Stone Island’s growing creative community is arriving in the city. The premiere of a new documentary, Passport by Glenn Kingston, spotlights the fascinating archives of Stone Island’s most prolific collectors. Filmed on vintage digital cameras across seven cities in seven countries – London, Paris, Naples, New York, Toronto, Seoul, Tokyo – the film dissects the brand’s influence across culture in each city.

Meanwhile, three days of ‘sonic exploration’ arrive at The Old Selfridges Hotel with Studio One, a curated event series featuring performances from the likes of Charlotte Day Wilson, Joe James, Amil Raja and Knuckledust. Continuing their presence in the arts, Stone Island also returns this year as the Official Partner of Frieze Focus, marking the brand’s 12th fair partnership.
