Into the wild
A stalwart icon of British outerwear and a pioneering house of craft, Burberry’s latest Gabardine capsule collection immortalises the revolutionary fabric invented by Thomas Burberry in 1879. Worn by world-class explorers and everyday hikers alike, the fabric’s weather-resistant properties have remained a staple in Burberry’s arsenal for nearly 150 years.
Brought to life in a campaign set against the terrain of Snowdonia, famous explorers Connaire Cann, Jesse Grylls and Marlon Patrice star alongside models Iris Lasnet and Zhuó Chen. Kitted out in looks from the capsule collection, Daniel Lee’s campaign stars sport reimagined iterations of parkas, Harrington and bomber jackets in brushed cotton nylon gabardine. Sticking to an earthy colour palette of beiges, khakis, browns and greens, casts ribbed knitwear, cotton hoodies and jogging bottoms in hues to match. Each item is branded with a specially designed label harking back to an archival campaign from 1993 – ‘Burberrys grew out of country life’ – cementing the British house’s longstanding ties to the outdoors.
