Songs to Ride to
Beatrice Domond skates with a rhythm and flair that gets you hooked. Born in Miami and raised in West Palm Beach, she picked up a board young – cruising coastlines, learning the streets, honing that instinctive style that defines her moves today. Those lo-fi early skate tapes landed in the hands of filmmaker Bill Strobeck and kicked off a chain reaction that launched her onto the Fucking Awesome team and into the wider skate universe.
Fast forward and Domond’s now riding for Supreme – one of the first women to do it – and cementing herself as one of skateboarding’s most influential voices. Magazine covers, signature Vans, Thom Browne shoots, major sponsors, even starring in a Jim Jarmusch short film, she’s doing all of it while still pushing skateboarding into new shapes, new moods, new possibilities.
Naturally, we had to bring Domond into our Songs to Ride To series – and she delivered. Dive into her playlist below.
I’d Love You to Want Me by Lobo
“This song is just good. I love love, and love songs – they’re just so dramatic. Me and Mum used to drive down 441 blasting it and singing along.”
Growin’ Up by Bruce Springsteen
“I found this song through one of my favourite movies, Gracie. It was based on a true story about women and sports and I really love that movie. I just purchased it on iTunes because I need a little inspiration right now.”
Friend Do Remix (feat. YKNIECE)by E Belly Gang Kushington, YKNIECE
“Haha this song just makes me jump up and pull my chains out. It’s so catchy and funny. “Like yo friend do”…”This shit overly loaded “ – like come on!”
Promise by Jagged Edge
“Classic. Like I said, I love a long song. A little bump and grind. Their voices are like angels.”
Let Me Go by Haim
“Women in music, women in sports, just women are the best. I love this song, it really hits my heart because I feel like sometimes my loyalty is detrimental. But I just gotta let go when I want to, I don’t have to wait for something to let me go first.”
İnce İnce Bir Kar Yağar by Selda Bagcan
“This song! As a kid I used to blast it in my headphones and then attacked the six stair at the skate park. I only blast the song when I wanna go jump down something.”
