Martine Rose and Nike transform elite gamers into digital athletes

Since their first partnership in 2018, Martine Rose and Nike have continued to deliver sell-out collaboration after sell-out collaboration. For the next instalment, the pair are continuing to explore the world of sport through unconventional subcultures as they step into the world of online gaming. Transforming a selection of five elite gamers into “digital athletes” for the campaign, ANa, Billy Mitchell, Scarlett, SonicFox and TenZ are photographed in an ode to vintage Nike ads and iconic sporting heroes. Celebrated for their achievements in games such as Counter-Strike, StarCraft II and Valorant, the campaign “explores esports as a place of athleticism, style and self-expression.”

The collection itself is imbued with the spirit of a 90s LAN party, with a series of football kits, ski jackets, hoodies and track pants designed with functionality and relaxation in mind. On foot, Martine’s signature Shox MR4 silhouette is introduced in two new colourways this season: a white and silver edition first debuted on the brand’s SS26 runway and a pair entirely designed in a fiery red hue.

Speaking on the collection, Rose said, “It’s the idea that anyone can be a hero, and I love that, that anyone can find a place in gaming where they’re celebrated for skill, it’s not about your physical prowess, it’s about something else. There’s a place where you can be celebrated for those aspects that you might be rejected for in mainstream culture and I think that’s really heartening.”

The Martine Rose x Nike collaboration will be available to shop from October 30th.
