DURANIMAL
Duran Lantink’s FW25 collection was an unflinching exploration of the boundaries between the human and the animal, complete with a set of tongue-in-cheek prosthetic breasts that caused havoc online (IYKYK). Departing from his synonymous bulbous forms and bubble creations, the Dutch designer presented tapered silhouettes, instead expressing his penchant for maximalism in clashing prints, with snake, leopard, zebra, camouflage and tartan walking alongside one another.
Aptly titled Duranimal, the designer’s accompanying campaign takes us to the zoo, where supermodels Alex Consani and Leon Dame go wild, photographed by Juergen Teller. Captured in front of the meerkat enclosure or peering into the penguin tank while hand-painted head-to-toe in zebra print, sporting just a thong and thigh-high boots to match – only Duran!

This brazen approach to design is what undoubtedly earned the Dutch designer the coveted spot as Jean Paul Gaultier’s predecessor, taking his reputation as “the new enfant terrible of fashion” to the storied French house. Making his debut for JPG in just a few weeks, his first show for the house is one of the most coveted of this coming season.
