At the Acne Studios show in Paris last month, Tricky sat front row in a previously unseen pink football shirt, leaving guests wondering when the hell they could get their hands on it. Now it all clicks as Tricky takes the lead role in Acne Studios x Kappa’s new collaboration campaign. Shot by Jordan Hemingway, the trip-hop pioneer and Massive Attack band member embodies the sporty, 90s-inspired collection.

Joining forces with the Italian sportswear brand, Acne Studios merge Swedish design with technical sporting expertise across a 22-piece capsule collection featuring denim, sportswear and accessories. Drawing from retro football kits, on-pitch inspired silhouettes inspire track pants and jackets cast in the brand’s emblematic pink and black, accented with both the Kappa and Acne Studios logos running down the legs and arms. The brand’s Bowlina bag, which made its debut on the SS25 runway has been transformed by flame motifs and dual logos alongside sneakers, caps and knee-high socks.

Speaking on the collaboration, creative director Jonny Johansson said, “I have always loved Kappa. Rebels wear Kappa, which appeals to me – it’s sportswear for the cool kids. In a world where the lines between classic workwear, streetwear, ready-to-wear and sportswear are blurred, it feels totally natural for Acne Studios to collaborate with Kappa on a collection that represents a modern way of dressing.”
