Chopova Lowena launch a fragrance line

Just when you thought Chopova Lowena couldn’t get any better (yes, we’re still thinking about that Mayo bag seen on the SS25 runway), the London-based brand has just announced its debut venture into fragrances. Made in Bulgaria, the Bulgarian-American and British design duo Emma Chopova and Laura Lowena-Irons turned to the country’s flowers and herbs for scent inspiration.

Settling on three different fragrances, each one is built on a base of Bulgarian rose oil, derived from the damascene roses of the Bulgarian Rose Valley. In true Chopova fashion, each scent grows into a different character: Queen Rosa is floral, woodsy and musky, Hay Zhasmina has notes of jasmine or amber and Great Root, and Green Ruth is for the outdoorsy types with hints of saffron and Bulgarian geranium.

The fragrances will be sold exclusively at Dover Street Market in London, New York and LA as individual perfumes, a tester trio and hand-poured candles encased in traditional Bulgarian ceramics. Speaking on the collection the designers said; “With the perfumes, we wanted to make beautiful, wearable scents our way. Each scent is textured and delicate, but not precious, meant to be work daily, spritzed on blouses and scarves, and tied to new memories with friends and loved ones.”
