Moncler are getting techy with Apple’s Jony Ive

Moncler is no stranger to collaboration, in the past, they have teamed up with the likes of Roc Nation, Rick Owens and Palm Angels but now they’re turning to the world of tech. The Italian house’s next partnership arrives in the form of Sir Jony Ives, a.k.a. the man who designed the iPhone. While at first glance an unlikely pairing, Ives’ position as co-founder of creative collective LoveFrom, which fosters a platform of designers, architects, musicians, filmmakers, writers, engineers and artists has laid the foundation for the former Apple designer to step into the world of ready-to-wear.

As a result, the capsule collection is a characteristically high-tech affair as a selection of pastel-hued layering pieces are built from high-quality recycled nylon developed exclusively for the collaboration. Manufactured on unusually large looms, every garment is crafted from one piece of fabric to appear seamless – finished with a “Duo” button made of four metals and a magnet allowing garments to layer atop one another with ease.

Speaking on the collaboration, Ive said; “Who I work with has become more important to me than what I work on. Our collaboration has been wonderfully simple and joyful. We have learnt so much from each other and I am particularly happy this modest collection marks the beginning of a longer term collaboration.”
