Zouzou
Last month, Celine announced the introduction of a beauty line that debuted in the FW24 collection film La Collection de l’Arc de Triomphe – an alluring ode to 60s glamour – accompanying Hedi Slimane’s Haute Parfumerie arm of the house. Continuing the designer’s foray into the seminal decade, Slimane’s latest fragrance Zouzou takes its name and inspiration from the sylph-like heroines donning mini-skirts and pixie-cropped haircuts who defined the era.
Joining Celine’s repertoire as its twelfth scent, Zouzou finds its place in Slimane’s day collection, imbued with the youthful spirit of a Parisian teenager and the carefree lightheartedness of 60s icons Jane Birkin and Mia Farrow. Built on notes of caramel, benzoin and tonka bean met with undertones of patchouli and musk, the scent transforms into a second skin as a trail of Zouzou’s softly seductive aura is left in the wake of its wearer.
Recounting the genesis of Zouzou in his olfactory journal, Slimane said; “I wished to create a perfume about utopia adolescence, capturing an ideal of eternal youth. The recklessness of the young French writer Françoise Sagan, the ingenu boyishness of Jean Seberg filmed by Jean Luc Goddard, the magnificent heroines of the Velvet Underground, together with the young women I was able to photograph for more than 20 years.”
Zouzou will launch globally in June 2024, available in Celine stores and on celine.com.
