Since his appointment as creative director of Courrèges in 2020, Nicolas Di Felice has brought a cultural resurgence to the French house, transforming it from an icon of 1960s Paris to a brand beloved by the 21st-century it-girl. Now he’s made his mark at Courrèges the Belgian designer is ready to leave the brand behind (only for a season) to take up guest residency as Jean Paul Gaultier’s next guest designer.
Di Felice will be the house’s seventh guest couturier, following on from Simone Rocha’s coquettish collection last season and joining the likes of Haider Ackerman, Glenn Martens, Chitose Abe and Olivier Rousteing who have all had a spot at the helm of the French house since the retirement of Gaultier in 2020. Announced via an Instagram post of Di Felice wearing a JPG t-shirt with a caption that simply read “Really excited and honoured,” the designer will debut his one-off show during Paris Haute Couture Week in June.
