Back in January, Sacai unveiled its collaboration with Moncler on the runway during Paris Fashion Week and now, the futuristic collection is hitting stores globally. The pair’s first partnership in ten years celebrates Moncler’s 70th anniversary, uniting the Japanese brand’s technical designs with storied heritage as Sacai’s Chitose Abe meditated on what the next seven decades of the Italian house may look like. Resulting in a collection formed on the basis of dichotomy, the collaboration traverses both mountaintop and city street terrain while balancing masculine and feminine forms to ensure every base is covered.

Comprised of two full looks for men and two for women, a tonal colour palette of black, ecru and powdery grey sits atop everything from tailored suit jackets to oversized floor-length puffers. In an exploration of craft, each look is designed in a multi-piece form to reinvent and reinterpret as jackets join trousers to form boilersuits while an opening of a zip morphs a puffer into a cape. Intricately pleated dresses and plush fuzzy vests add a playfully feminine touch to technical silhouettes alongside elevated accessories in the form of platform ankle boots and tactile rucksacks.
