For the tenth anniversary of his eponymous label, Craig Green has decided to go all out with a bumper double-season collection covering FW23 and SS24. Utilising doubles, mirrored outfits that just scream “come play with us” are fashioned in quintessentially Green silhouettes with boldly clashing colours and prints to match. Objects hang from shoulders and forearms, collapsing onto chests as though needing to be cradled and string ties which once hung loose are tightened to emphasise the volume of Green’s padded garments.
Monochrome two pieces add a utilitarian touch while thickly embroidered fabrics cover everything, including the face and strange humanoid body sculptures that look like airplane seats come to life. Continuing to take the art of not-quite deconstruction to another level, the show notes claim that Green’s models are “re-forming and re-exploring the languages and movements of long forgotten journeys.” As the British designer’s eponymous label marks a decade of creativity and experimentation, this latest offering is a testament to the freedom and artisanal craft which has built the foundation of Green’s creativity from day one.
