Friends & family
Since Vivienne Westwood’s passing last year, her partner Andreas Kronthaler has continued to honour the inimitable designer’s legacy in every step of his creative endeavours. For the British house’s FW23 campaign, we’re taken on a journey to Westwood’s home on the outskirts of Manchester, in an intimate tribute to her formative years.
Shot by Juergen Teller, Westwood’s family and friends, including her son Ben and granddaughter Cora Corré who closed the FW23 show in Paris earlier this year, are photographed in front of the house she grew up in (6 Millbrook, Hollingworth), the local football pitch, the nearby Conduit Street park (Conduit Street London is home to a Vivienne Westwood store – neat) and the garden’s of the late designer’s relatives. Decked out head to toe in this season’s quintessentially Vivienne collection, oversized tartan wool blazers, opulent ribboned hats and flamboyant tulle dresses are worn by models where Westwood’s story began in a fitting homage to her Northern roots.
Speaking on the campaign, Kronthaler said; “To go up there and shoot the campaign has been very helpful in the process of coming to terms with the loss of not having her with us anymore… We ended the day at Vivienne’s grave and took a few pictures there. It felt very special to document this moment.”
