Robyn Lynch’s new exhibition is a celebration of Irishness
By Barry Pierce | Fashion | 20 July 2023

When Robyn Lynch burst onto the scene with her eponymous label in 2018, her tongue-in-cheek approach to the Irish identity immediately found success. Several acclaimed collections and major collaborations with Rapha and Columbia later, Lynch has now become the latest recipient of NOW Gallery’s Fashion Commission.

Carrying on from previous awardees Matty Bovan, Nicholas Daley, Mowalola and Molly Goddard, Lynch’s exhibition will be open from 6 December 2023 – 25 February 2024. Titled Greetings From Ireland, the exhibition will plunge visitors head first into the bold, playful universe of Robyn Lynch. In a celebration of what it is to be Irish, the exhibition will explore the creative process behind Lynch’s fashion brand while paying tribute to the designer’s roots in the craftful, humorous style she’s become known for.

Housed entirely in a huge bouncy castle-esque inflatable structure made in collaboration with Irish artist Rory Mullen, Greetings From Ireland will explore themes around nostalgia, family, Irish heritage and the freedom of expression from a bygone era before mobile phones and social media were omnipresent.

“Being awarded the NOW Gallery 2023 Fashion Commission has been a monumental moment for my brand,” says Lynch.” I have been an admirer of the NOW Gallery fashion commission since it was established in 2015, when I got the opportunity to assist on Phoebe English’s commission whilst interning at the brand.

From assisting another designer as an intern, to now having the opportunity to express my brand’s world in the same space is a full 360 moment for me. I am extremely honoured to be given the opportunity to celebrate Irish creatives and culture within the gallery walls.”

Greetings from Ireland will run at the NOW Gallery, Greenwich from 6 December 2023 – 25 February 2024.
