For Anthony Vaccarello‘s latest in-store Rive Droite exhibition, the Saint Laurent designer has invited French contemporary artist Laurent Pernot to show works across both stores in Paris and Los Angeles. Since founding Rive Droite in 2019, Vaccarello has collaborated with the likes of Renato D’Agostin, Indigo Lewin and Sho Shibuya to articulate the Parisian house’s vision of artistic craft.

Known for developing an ever-growing body of work spanning video, installation, photography and sculpture over the past two decades, Pernot’s practice focuses on expressing a poetic visual language. In this dual-city presentation, recent paintings from Pernot’s The Contemplations series are on display, crafted from natural marble, painted wood and collage. Drawing from disparate cultural references, liminal, pastel-hued landscapes and silhouettes form, suspended in time. Inspired by Victor Hugo’s poetry collection of the same name, which experimented with the idea of an autobiography in verse, Pernot’s works meditate on ideas of man and nature, memory and oblivion, history and love.
