Ahead of the festive period, the UK’s national homeless charity Crisis has joined forces with fashion editor Tom Stubbs and Anda Rowland of Anderson & Sheppard to host Crisis at the Cop Shop as part of this year’s Pop-Up Crisis initiative. Selling donations from the fashion industry, the pop-up has previously raised £75k in 2018 and £100k in 2019, with hopes to smash their target of £125,000 this time around.

Taking over the decommissioned police station, West End Central, on Savile Row from Monday, this year is set to be one of their biggest to date. Over 100 brands have been enlisted to make donations including the likes of Burberry, Wales Bonner, Jimmy Choo and Charles Jeffery. As well as a whole host of designer goods, the duo are planning on staging a series of events in the uniquely renovated space, so make sure to keep an eye on their Instagram for updates.

Speaking to us about the initiative, Stubbs said; “It was clear that there was big gap between what we as fashion industry people could effectively solicit as donations from our friends contacts and what existing Crisis shops can sell – they’re not geared for it on the volume or varied levels we ended up receiving. We’ve also got the team knowledge to do a big retail moment, collating all this stuff before Xmas makes a bit impact. It’s an event and a buzz.”

While homelessness across the country is a constant issue of importance, the winter months and festive period always prove tougher which is where Stubbs’ idea for Pop-up Crisis came from after working on the clothes banks in Hackney Central at Christmas. He explains; “I’ve seen first-hand how Crisis at Christmas help people in a very human connection way, as well as helping support. We developed a relationship with the charity from there. The fact that Crisis address the omnipresent issue of real people really struggling with homelessness all around us in London makes them a very significant charity organisation who really make a difference.”

Pop-Up Crisis at the Cop Shop runs from 5th – 14th December at 27 Savile Row, more info here
