New digs
Since Isabel Marant opened her first store in Paris in 1998, she has amassed a roster of 66 stores worldwide, but this latest opening marks the designer’s first step on American soil and biggest store to date. Located in New York City just a stone’s throw from Central Park, the store combines Parisian chic with a Manhattan spirit. Women’s, men’s, étoile and accessories collections are on display against a backdrop that mixes the house’s signature 70s references with an industrial air reflective of the city’s urban architecture.
Inspired by the concept of “cabinet de curiosités”, a common thread for all Isabel Marant stores, the aesthetic of Marant’s flagship was developed in close collaboration with a series of local young designers and artisans, resulting in an eclectic mix of artisanal podums and hangers. Elsewhere, artist Arnold Goron, a longstanding Marant collaborator, also stepped in to design the store’s centrepiece: a futuristic, bright pink table offering up this season’s staples accessories alongside a multi-coloured metal sculpture.
Isabel Marant’s New York flagship is located at 677 Madison Avenue.
