Fashion round-up

ICYMI: Craig Green’s warped knitwear, Amiri in Shanghai and dunhill does ASMR
Fashion | 17 July 2022

Time flies, so to keep you in the loop, we’ve rounded up all the important snippets of fashion news from the past seven days into one neat feature. This week includes some exclusive Lemaire, Dr Martens in summer and Coco Capitán decorates loafers.

Amiri opened up in Shanghai
The LA brand’s first flagship store outside the US is a beauty, featuring a statement limestone facade, modernist decor and… a custom-made Amiri pool table [quid’s at the ready]. Connecting with the city’s passionate creative scene, the store is also decorated with works by local artist Li Zhongshi.

Birkenstock went #BOLD
Reimagining premium versions of their classic Arizona and Boston models, the German footwear giants have teamed up with Takashi Okabe, director of London menswear store Clutch Cafe, and James Otter, a Cornwall-based master woodworker who creates bespoke surfboards. Titled BIRKENSTOCK #BOLD, the accompanying campaign shines a light on this curator and craftsman, and, of course, their Birkenstocks.

Dover Street Market have a Craig Green exclusive
Remember those wild, exaggerated knit hoodies from Craig Green’s FW22 show? You know, the ones that bulged and morphed across models’ bodies like otherworldly beings? Now, those pieces are exclusively available at Dover Street Market London in various colours and shapes. Buy now, but perhaps wear once London stops being a hot sticky mess.

Mytheresa revealed an exclusive Lemaire capsule
Consisting of fourteen pieces, the collection celebrates Lemaire’s commitment to crafting timeless garments – mixing functionality with style. A military jacket and matching pants in cotton canvas, a classic Lemaire twisted shirt in a toned-down colour palette and lush lambswool sweaters. Finish it off with an exclusive crossbody Croissant bag.

Enough from us, listen to the words of Lemaire’s co-artistic directors, Christophe Lemaire and Sarah-Linh Tran: “For this Lemaire and Mytheresa Men capsule, it was all about this idea of men who advance at their own pace, valiant with these canvas-nylon bags crossing their chests, united in heart and free of movement, the body facing forward, turned towards the future.”

dunhill made ASMR
We’ve all ended up down an ASMR rabbit hole on YouTube before (don’t lie), but now British brand dunhill has created an incredibly chic offering for your ears. In a campaign video unveiling their latest Rollagas collection, the inimitable 1970s lighter is reimagined four decades later. Drawing inspiration from the iconic geometric design, that same motif now sits atop ready-to-wear, leather goods and a variety of other accessories. Merging old and new, the archive motif blends seamlessly across a Lock Clip backpack and classic beige car coat crafted in a technical Rollagas fabric. A treat for the eyes and ears.

Dr. Martens welcomed in the summer
In case you hadn’t noticed, it’s bloody warm outside. Which means summer has officially settled in London. Timing with the soaring mercury levels, Dr. Martens have released their Summer Shoes collection and All Access Summer SS22 campaign.

The collection reveals new season iterations of classic silhouettes – the 1461 Canvas, 1461 Suede, 1461 Iced Sole and Adrian Suede – while the imagery puts model and creative director TJ Sawyerr in the driving seat. Inspired by the idea of reinvention and imagination, Sawyerr has put Amir Hossain behind the camera and recruited three of his most “impressive, yet rooted” creative contemporaries, filmmaker Hass, rapper/artist Ayrtn and actor/model Rio Thake, for a shoot that sees them fly higher than ever.
