We first saw a glimpse of the Dior by Birkenstock collab back in January as they came sauntering down Kim Jones’ FW22 runway – now they’re hitting stores in time for warmer weather. The partnership arrives as part of the brand’s CD 1947 capsule collection, steeped in the house’s heritage codes that tie the French house’s founder Christian Dior, to the present day. 

Reinventing two iconic Birkenstock silhouettes, the Tokio back-strapped mule and the Milano back-strapped sandal have been given an elevated upgrade in nubuck leather and felted wool. A homage to Monsieur Dior, the capsule’s hues offer up variations of the signature Dior Gray, while floral detailing both on the shoes and in the campaign honours the designer’s well-documented love of gardening. In a continual effort to combine functionality and elegance, the presence of Dior’s founder and his early endeavours continue to inform Jones’ ever-evolving vision of the house.
