Saint Laurent smokes up with Charlotte Gainsbourg in the house’s latest podcast

Saint Laurent’s wonderfully hazy world of Le Smoking comes into full focus in the fashion house’s latest podcast episode, named after the iconic women’s suiting.

Announced earlier this month, SMOKING is a space where the many glamorous characters of the Saint Laurent universe and that of its creative director, Anthony Vaccarello, can coalesce in a secret mirrored room of the brand’s Rive Droite store, stopping by for intimate, low-lit chats. Consider it the most luxurious smoking area to exist, where absolutely nothing is off the table, besides the ash spilling on the floor.

After delighting fans with The Hunger’s Catherine Deneuve in its debut episode, the brand has stocked up on a few fresh packs for their next guest, Charlotte Gainsbourg. Daughter of Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin, perhaps the most influential French duo of all time – including Marie Antoinette and King Louis – Gainsbourg joins host Pascale Clark for a chat that begins with her return to Parisian life: she recently moved back to her home city after spending close to a decade swept up in the bright lights of New York, where she moved in 2013 following the death of her sister.

The soul-bearing chat lends itself to a multitude of topics, from age and beauty to Gainsbourg’s eye (and ear) for the artistic, with the star talking at length about her three greatest passions in life: cinema, photography and music. There’s plenty of anecdotal tea-spilling too, covering the most important stages of the star’s tumultuous life whilst also mulling over the importance of personal style, with Gainsbourg guiltily admitting to the newfound easiness of dress in a post-Covid world. Such honesty is hard to come by on red carpets and in magazines, but then again, that’s what Le Smoking is all about.
