In With The New
Zegna has spent the better part of a century cultivating a rich legacy of suave formalwear in the name of their founder, Ermenegildo Zegna.
But this season, the esteemed Italian fashion house are repositioning themselves, and indeed the brand at large, with an entirely new collection of must-have outdoor staples. Designing with the active explorer in mind, be they a mountaineer or ski-slope savant, artistic director Alessandro Sartori’s new vision for the brand is one that reflects the ever-evolving world around us, following a path set in 1910 through the mountainous region of Piedmont, Northern Italy.
Now resolutely under the performancewear umbrella, Zegna’s new direction is en route to the top of the luxury athleisure pyramid, bringing functionality and innovative textiles to the fore. There’ll be unexpected collaborations and partnerships with tech-experts like La Sportiva and KASK, who worked closely with the brand on their air-mesh uppers and Piuma-R ski helmets, respectively.
To mark their very first drop, Sartori has endeavoured in a whole range of winter essentials. From ski-suits and puffers in the brand’s specialised Techmerino fabric, to waterbottles, trousers, technical jumpers and caps, each piece has been designed with natural and sustainable materials, in keeping with Zegna’s longstanding sustainable ethos. They’ve even created a brand new logo, a vicuna-brown hued graphic path inspired by the house’s rural beginnings and metaphorical future.
