Reworked

Gallery Dept’s Josué Thomas has splattered paint across Lanvin pieces

Lanvin introduces a new collaborative capsule collection that sees creative director Bruno Sialelli join forces with Josué Thomas, founder of LA design studio Gallery Dept.

Combining aesthetics, Thomas has reinterpreted Sialelli’s Lanvin “uniform” via his own creative DIY approach that blends fashion and art. Here, Thomas has taken key pieces from Sialelli’s wardrobe, like the “Mother and Child” printed t-shirt, twisted jeans and the asymmetric striped shirt, and painted, drawn on and distressed them, creating unique pieces informed by Gallery Dept.’s artisanal savoir-faire. Elsewhere Lanvin’s signature Curb sneakers, are decorated with expressionist drip paint techniques.

“The design process for the collaboration with Lanvin was relatively similar to how we create at Gallery Department. “I wanted each garment to have a feeling that people can connect with forever,” said Josué Thomas.

Bruno Sialelli added, “It’s brilliant to see the legacy of Lanvin and our core collection evolve with creative partnerships. We like to continue to challenge ourselves to see Lanvin in new ways.”

The new collection is modelled by musical artist Offset, shot on location in the Hollywood Hills by Josué. “The set, sounds, and composition of the campaign was just as important as the collection for me,” says Josué. “It’s about great energy and the small imperfect details that make a seemingly normal piece of clothing or accessory so special.”
