Multi-dimensional
Since last month’s announcement that Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett’s Gorillaz will be the new faces of Fred Perry, it seems that the virtual British band have been busy in the atelier working on a special collaborative collection.
In the band’s inimitable style, the line-up sees each band member put their own twist on iconic Fred Perry silhouettes, adorning them in bold graphics, slogans and patches. Boasting menswear and womenswear, all the classics are present: from contrast trim Harringtons through V-neck knitwear, pleated tennis dresses and polos.

Inviting you into their world, the collection is available to explore digitally within the band’s virtual motorhome-cum-HQ from Thursday 20th May – keep eyes peeled for hidden objects and surprises. To gain access, you must register your interest online before the launch date on the Fred Perry website.
On the band’s temporary relocation, the press release explained: “The four Gorillaz bandmates have been temporarily forced to leave their longtime West London base Kong Studios after a demonic sinkhole opened up beneath the building. While they wait for the council to sort out the problem, they have grabbed some essentials – instruments, recording gear and the Fred Perry collection that they’ve been working on – and hit the road.“
Speaking of the collection, Murdoc, Gorillaz founding member and bassist, said: “Given my status as a quintessential exemplar of British culture, I’m often approached by iconic brands. Along comes Fred Perry and it just clicks. Timeless clobber which we can put a Gorillaz twist on.” While drummer Russel Hobbs added: “Gorillaz and Fred Perry went together like rhythm and blues on this one. We loved turning dreams into reality and we hope you’ll love them too. Peace.”
