The announcement was revealed today via a series of video clips showing an airplane banner with the phrase ‘The Dancing Kid’ flying through the sky before falling to the ground, all set to a repeating single beat throughout.
Having introduced menswear to the Parisian fashion house for the first time in its history from his debut season in SS19, this latest collection will mark the designer’s fifth. Throughout, Slimane has cultivated a streamlined, new wave silhouette that tunes his lifetime documentation of youth movements with Celine’s heritage roots: from Paris’ des Jeunes Gens Modernes scene of the late 70s (SS19) to today’s energised post-punk movement currently shaking up the London music scene (FW19).
As for what Slimane has up his sleeve this season? You’ll have to wait until next week for that reveal. In the meantime, check out his recent images of French film legend Jean-Luc Godard.
