The likes of Ryan McGinley and Luna Picoli-Truffaut show us their beloved Birkenstocks

For its FW18 campaign, Birkenstock are celebrating the eclectic mix of people from around the world for whom Birkys are a wardrobe essential. Made up of a series of intimate portraits, shot by self-taught London photographer Jack Davison, the Personality Campaign captures protagonists – the likes of photographer Ryan McGinley, actress Luna Picoli-Truffaut, Ballerina Romany Pajdak, free skier Tom Leitner and New York filmmaker Sean Frank – all alongside their beloved Birkenstocks.

Each pair of well-worn Birkenstocks offers an insight into the lives of their owner: one particularly gnarled pair belonging to Ballerina Romany Pajdak tells a tale of rigorous pointe technique and endless pirouetting, while those of Thomas Südhof, the Nobel Prize Laureate of Physiology, exhibit hallmark signs of contemplative pacing.

The campaign marks the starting point of what will become a continuous, ever-growing portfolio, detailing the lives of Birkenstock owners from all over the world via the unique impressions left on the soles of their sandals. If you think you and your Birkys make for a compelling twosome, you could be in with a chance of featuring in a series of forthcoming video portraits, click here to find out how.
