Deadheads unite! NYC brand Proenza Schouler has announced a new, eight-piece capsule collection celebrating the Grateful Dead, godfathers of the jam band and trailblazers of the psychedelic 70s zeitgeist.

This new capsule marks an extension of the label’s FW18 collection, an ode to counterculture California and its skilled artisans of the 1970s, women like Sheila Hicks and Lenore Tawney who’s resourcefulness and ‘can do’ attitude embodies the sunny optimism of the West coast. There’s a spirituality to be found in the uniqueness of hand-crafted objects, one that was laid out on the runway in Paris at the beginning of this year and returns here with a band who tapped into their own unique spirituality, albeit with the occasional assistance of certain substances.

The collection offers a distilled take on the Steal Your Face Skull, the legendary Grateful Dead insignia originally designed by Owsley Stanley and artist Bob Thomas as a means of marking the band’s equipment. After featuring on the cover of their 1976 live album Steal Your Face, the image was etched into band lore and is here incorporated via knitwear and the printed leather fabrics that make up the accessories.

The capsule consists of eight items ranging in price from €185 to €2095, and is available for purchase now on www.proenzaschouler.com
