Saint Laurent taps legendary photographer Nobuyoshi Araki for a provocative art series

As if last week’s news of a special Saint Laurent X Colette collaboration wasn’t enough excitement, Anthony Vaccarello has added a further dimension to his pop-up store by teaming up with legendary Japanese photographer Nobuyoshi Araki for a special project that is being exhibited at the French concept store.

Titled “Saint Laurent Shiki-in” (lust for color), the series of sixteen works feature nude photographs of Saint Laurent model Anja Rubik surrounded by vibrant paint brush strokes.

Over the past five decades, Araki has published over 450 photo books on subjects ranging from prostitution and sadomasochism to love and intimacy, gaining both controversy and attention at home and overseas. With Japanese culture as the focal point, his filterless approach to nudity and taboos has lead the photographer down the path of fashion collaborations before having previously teamed up with Bottega Veneta and Supreme.

The exhibition is located on Colette’s mezzanine level, while the range of co-signed collector pieces are on display on the first floor.

The exhibition runs at Colette from 2nd December until 20th December, the very last day the iconic Parisian concept store will be open to the public.
