Alexandre Mattiussi tasked his models with moving amongst a field of wheat, illuminated by red artificial light and hazy clouds of smoke as the looks were accompanied by Eric Satie’s 1890 piano pieces, the Trois Gnossiennes’.

The term and form of the pieces were invented by the composer, who chose a highly experimental structure and rhythm which still evoked familiarity. It’s a spirit that must resonate with Mattiussi: experimenting with traditional sartorial codes to create wardrobe essentials that you don’t want to take off. Practical jackets, loose-fitting shirting and comfortable shoes all adhered to a muted colour palette and offered a new uniform which prioritised both form and function, without unnecessary trimmings.
