Adventure time
Discovery and rediscovery was the game for Tod’s this season, stacking a laidback wardrobe for today’s urban explorer. With pandemic restrictions easing, creative director Walter Chiapponi looked towards an optimistic future with the hope of travel and adventure on the horizon: referencing US photographer Peter Beard’s Kenyan landscape and safari images across the collection.
Titled Under the Italian Sun, a film shot on location at Tuscany’s Cantina Petra vineyard told the story of la dolce vita, spotlighting five characters – a mixture of models, musicians, and actors – as they strolled through the vineyard and architect Mario Botta’s striking architecture. The safari references mentioned above manifested with the return of Tod’s lion head motif, used on pocket details and camera bags – an essential accessory for every adventurer. Menswear staples were reworked with leisure and relaxation in mind: trenchcoats were rendered in lightweight nylon and trousers in parachute canvas while colour-block windbreakers, suede hoodies and thick sole boots offered chic practicality.
