Reworked essentials fronted the Tod’s FW23 collection, offering contemporary twists on classic cuts. Trenches were crafted with sporty layers and narrow-waisted bomber jackets were reimagined in soft knits with shearling details. Strong shoulders defined tailoring, sometimes pinstriped and with deconstructed lapels, as models walked in shearling shoes – fluffy shoes are everywhere this season – and floor-length coats evoked a sense of drama befitting the setting: the vast Pirelli HangarBicocca exhibition space permanently hosting Anselm Kiefer’s incredible, towering The Seven Heavenly Palaces installation.
