The Acne Studios superhero is here to save us all

What if Acne Studios did superheroes? They’d swap latex suits for distressed double denim. Replace cloaks with sweeping, floor-length leather coats. Wear thigh-high buckle boots perfect for stomping villains. And snake through the city in python prints. They’d keep their weaponry in bags customised with stickers of inspirational female DC superheroes. And across their waist, prints of multiple overlapping biker belts studded and spiked are the ultimate utility belt.

It’s their wardrobe and way of wearing that empowers the Acne Studios SS25 superhero, born from the mind of creative director Jonny Johansson: “I can feel really strong just having the right clothing at the right moment. That’s a little bit what I’m trying to do here, you know, that’s why that empowering thing is kind of like – it has superpowers!”

With this, pyjama fits make us want to stay in bed and read comics under the covers and rebellious symbols of adolescence – bleaching, laddering and spray painted graphics – mix with the more done-up symbols of adolescence – tailoring, fine wools, pinstripes.

Up in the night sky, the Acne signal summons our superhero – someone is in need of saving.
