Smalltown travels

Through his SS20 menswear collection – How a Letter Travels – 2019 CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund finalist Reese Cooper continues to expand on his narrative of traveling across America, exploring small towns and communities tucked into the most scenic natural landscapes.

Presented as a lookbook shot in different small towns outside of Ojai (CA), the young designer’s latest offering sees him expand his aesthetic via a renewed emphasis on technical fabrics designed and developed for travelers who find themselves in various climates. Here, American denim jeans and jackets come with hand-crafted patchwork, while versatile, lightweight nylon jackets, trousers, and shorts come with utilitarian details (like cargo pockets and hidden pouches), proving that style and substance are worthy travel companions.

Cooper also continues down a sustainable path he has continued to carve, creating knitwear made from recycled paper and cotton that features an architectural drawing of the Ojai California Post Office as a graphic alongside embroidered postage stamps: reinforcing the collection’s  How a Letter Travels storyline while posing the question of how far one is willing to go to get their message delivered; a journey Reese Cooper is currently exploring as he continues to grow his namesake brand.
