That’s the life

MSGM SS25 set sail on the Italian Riviera

On the outskirts of Milan in a derelict graffiti-sprayed building, Massimo Giorgetti celebrated fifteen years of MSGM with a collection fit for modern Mediterranean living. Titled The Sea and I, the only thing on Giorgetti’s mind this season was afternoon siestas, morning dips in the sea and perfecting the art of ‘dolce far niente’ as the designer played on the cliches of a Med lifestyle.

Presenting Men’s SS25 and Women’s Resort 2025 alongside one another, Giorgetti’s guys and girls donned relaxed suits, knits adorned with sea creatures and patent leather trenches. Mini dresses were paired with matching bucket hats, co-ords were ruffled or pinstriped and hoodies sported slogans declaring ‘Not A Tourist’  in true seaside merch fashion. On foot, MSGM debuted its inaugural collaboration with New Balance in a series of neutral-hued sneakers with vibrant laces.

Drenched in a colour palette inspired by British artist Luke Edward Hall: pastel yellows and blues melted into fiery reds and dark navy. True to the designer’s nautical moodboard, bold Breton stripes sat across jersey tees and ribbed knits, flowers bloomed atop shirting and snapshots of the coastline itself appeared on outerwear. Accessories delved deeper into Giorgetti’s portrait of an Italian summer as origami paper hats mimicked the sails of a ship, neckerchiefs were tied nonchalantly and paired with revere-collared suiting, and the silhouettes of small woven bags were reminiscent of shells found on the beach. As the sound of crashing waves echoed in the background, Giorgetti left us all yearning for a summer on the Italian Riviera.
