Low-rise jeans and high-rise thongs at KNWLS SS23

It’s no secret that the 2000s are back, and KWNLS are giving them permenant residency. As the concrete showspace pulsed to a heavy techno beat, models came prowling down the runway. “As we careen towards a future that’s never felt less certain, hope lies in the things we already know best,” read the show release, eluding to a reflective spirit that re-enforced the brand’s staples with progressive pace.

It was all about low-rise and high drama as skimpy thongs poked out of sliced denim and micro mini skirts cast a barely-there appearance alongside sheer bodysuits. A sea of earthy tones reigned supreme in floral mesh and burnt tie dye, occasionally accented by a full baby pink or distressed acid wash look, while signature zig-zag lacing and corsetry reworked classic silhouettes.

Dresses were crystal studded and bias cut, corsets were rendered in supple suede and leggings were flared. “Bulletproof” aviator coats were crafted in wool that resembled denim, while models glistening hairdos eluded to sci-fi cosmic travels. On foot, contrasts continued to collide: as tough Gladiator heels walked alongside cosy UGG collabs pierced with metal rings and designed with a square toe – reminiscent of the brand’s signature Hellz boots. KNWLS signatures don’t stand still, they race forward with utter joy.
