Synergy

KNWLS’ Milan debut was a high-tech, high-tempo Nike collab

After eight years of showing on home soil, KNWLS upped and left London to make their debut on the Milan Fashion Week schedule. Not only did the brand switch up location, but it unveiled one of its biggest projects to date: a full-scale capsule collection with Nike. Aptly titled Synergy, SS26 brought together the rebellious spirit Charlotte Knowles and Alexandre Arsenault have imbued in their girls from the beginning, with Nike’s stylish athleticism and technical know-how.

The striking silhouettes for which the brand has become best known were amped up as dramatic dome shoulders were met by nipped or darted waistlines and jutting-out hips, wrapping girls in a voluminous coat of armour. Slimline leggings and drainpipe denim were paired with structured or ruffled tops, while batwing-sleeved hoodies were transformed into cropped trench coats and nylon tracksuits were elevated with corsetry. The contrasting of fabrics stands at the centre of the collection, with looks striding down the runway crafted in buffed leathers, cold-dyed jersey, satin jacquards and neoprene-esque rubber. The instantly recognisable Razr bag is revamped in nylon and leather, crafted with a hefty rubber base modelled on Nike’s very first waffle outsole, while the brand’s Raptor boots were given a makeover from the xorset-laced sneakers developed on Nike’s Air Max Muse.
