Sweet Treat
Jil Sander‘s Lucie and Luke Meier continue to elevate and enhance wardrobe staples, this season delivering an education in merging timeless craftsmanship and wearability. Although pioneers of minimalism, the German house always counters their streamlined aesthetic with a touch of unpredictability, and for FW23 it arrived in the form of fuzzy knitwear, candy motifs and pops of fruity goodness.
Silhouettes were voluminous as floating bubble dresses paraded down the runway alongside billowing trousers, met in equal parts with exquisitely tailored jackets fastened with metal zippers and angular longline coats. Asymmetric suiting stood alongside sculpted leather crafted into delicately waisted felt jackets and leather mini dresses, contoured to accentuate the collection’s gender-neutral ethos. Delicate fluffy jumpers and silk capes were juxtaposed with otherworldly boilersuits and reflective parkas. Sequins and crushed aluminium flowers sat atop dresses, denim was distressed and hemlines merged as longline tunics were worn over trousers.
Pastel pink, yellow and orange hues were accompanied by playful graphics of cherries, dainty florals and sweets. Accessories were out in full force as bold monochromatic sneakers and motorcycle boots anchored silhouettes in a practical manner while finely knitted balaclavas made a regular appearance alongside a series of pillow-like bags mirrored by the duvet-covered show space.
