Homme Plissé Issey Miyake was inspired by rocks, stones and caves

Having foregone their usual slot at Paris Men’s Fashion Week in order to spotlight the IM MEN line, Homme Plissé Issey Miyake released their FW25 collection in the form of a lookbook. The new collection, titled Lithology: The Curious Stones, is an elemental evolution from Homme Plissé’s SS25 collection. Where that previous collection was influenced by the wind, the FW25 collection took inspiration from rocks, stones, caves, and various other lithological forms. As the collection notes put it, “By integrating the diverse, multifaceted characteristics of stones into clothes-making, this collection is an aggregate of substantial materials expressed through pronounced forms and earth-inspired tones.”

Therefore, the collection was made up of clothing series with names like Agate, which took the multilayered and multicoloured forms of agate stones and translated them into banded print looks. The Cavity Coat, as the name suggests, was a series of billowing coats inspired by the vast hollows of caves. A strand of utilitarian workwear pieces titled Quarry was inspired by both the grey and brown hues of quarries and the uniforms of the workers who mine them. Naturally, the lookbook saw the models all wearing these new pieces, set against the stark vastness of quarries and cave systems.
